How to order a car
We handle the entire vehicle ordering process — from the first contact to delivery.

Deposit
To begin the vehicle search and gain access to auctions, a deposit of 10% of the expected auction value is required upfront. Once received, the search starts immediately. If no suitable vehicle is found within 2–6 weeks, we can extend the search or refund up to 75% of the deposit. On a successful purchase, the deposit is deducted from the final price.
Vehicle search & bidding
We search auction listings in Japan and Korea to find vehicles matching your criteria. You provide bidding instructions with a maximum price limit — if your bid wins, the vehicle is purchased at the auction's final price, which may be lower than your limit. Auction results are always trackable and verifiable. Every car undergoes a thorough technical inspection and history check. Additional photos from our partner's lot can be provided on request.
Payment
After a successful bid we issue an invoice covering the auction price, auction fee, transport to port, packing, and all documentation. Payment is due within 3 days, after which shipping arrangements begin.
Transportation
Once payment is confirmed, transport begins. Moving the vehicle to the port typically takes 1–2 weeks, after which it is packed into a shipping container. Sea freight to Europe takes approximately 2 months. The total transportation process is estimated at around 3 months.
Arrival & customs clearance
We begin customs procedures one week before the vehicle arrives in Estonia. A final invoice covering customs duties and related fees is issued and must be paid before clearance. JP Cars handles all customs formalities and container unpacking.
Delivery & insurance
Once cleared, the vehicle is delivered to your agreed location in Estonia or elsewhere in Europe. If desired, cargo insurance can be arranged — read more about cargo insurance.
Cargo Insurance
Under international maritime regulations, container shipping companies are not liable for damage or loss of goods caused by events such as ship sinking, accidents, or other unforeseen circumstances.
As part of JPCars' vehicle brokerage service, additional cargo insurance can be arranged to cover losses if the vehicle is damaged or destroyed during transport.
Insurance must be arranged before the goods are transported, and JPCars must be notified in writing of the request.
The insurance cost is 1% of the vehicle's price in Japan or Korea, with a minimum fee of €150.
What the insurance covers
- Total loss or damage to the vehicle during transport
- Shipwreck, traffic accident, or other accident
- Falling, overturning, or other unexpected incident involving the cargo
- Reasonable costs related to damage investigation and handling
What the insurance does not cover
- Normal wear and tear, rust, corrosion, or colour changes
- Minor cosmetic damage (e.g. scratches, dents)
- Mechanical failures unrelated to a transport accident
- Unexplained disappearance or undocumented damage
- Damage caused by the vehicle moving on its own (except during loading/unloading)
Important for the customer
- The vehicle's condition is documented before transport
- Any damage must be documented immediately upon receipt
- The insurance is valid throughout the entire standard transportation period, including sea freight, and also covers temporary warehousing (up to 30 days).
- Deductible: €1,000 per incident.
- In the event of a loss, compensation is based on the vehicle's market value in the country of origin prior to transport.
